Fast Food Chain, Chick-fil-A plans to introduce new vegan alternatives on its menu
More people are starting to live healthy lives, and the number of vegans and vegetarians keep increasing. As a result of growing, demand food chain restaurants are now beginning to offer more plant-based alternatives in their menu. The latest to follow the trend is fast food chain Chick-fill-A, which is making more vegan additions to their menu.
Chick-fil-A to introduce vegan alternatives in its menu
Already Chick-fil-A has some vegan and vegetarian options on its menu, which are mostly salads and side dishes. The fast-food chain is now considering more options to enhance its menu with meatless options.
Amanda Norris, Chick-fil-A’s executive director, said in an interview recently that over the years they have been researching on meatless vegan alternatives by trying to establish what the customer’s preferences are and what they would like on the menu. She added that they think that it is beyond just meat in wrap or salads and they were thinking of a different protein alternative in a sandwich.
Before a menu item is launched at Chick-fil-A, it has to undergo five stages, which are comprehension conception, prototyping, and validation and then launching. The food chain seems to be following in the path of other chains such as Burger king who already have vegan foods.
A representative of Chick-fil-A confirmed that their innovation teams are always exploring upcoming trends and what their customers will like in their menu and thus the development of vegan alternatives is actually in its initial stages. A new item will normally take between one and a half years to two years before being unveiled on the Chick-fil-A menu.
Vegan options offered at Chick-fil-A
The chain offers veggies in its menu, and if the Spicy Southern Salad is ordered without cheese or chicken, then it can be turned vegan, and although the creamy salad dressing is not vegan, it can be substituted with the Chilli Lime vinaigrette.
Equally, Chick-fil-A’s Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap and Grilled Market Salad can also be converted to become vegan if the cheese and chicken are down away with and then paired with alternative dressings. Also, their popular waffle fries and the fruit cup are also vegan. However, vegan and vegetarian consumers have strong appetites, and thus, they need considerable vegan alternatives.
Consumers waiting to see what vegan options will Chick-fil-A offer
There is some skepticism from consumers on why a chain that focuses on chicken will try to introduce vegan alternatives. Social media users are asking why they want to cater to everyone. For instance, one user tweeted that the company going vegan is losing of collective minds and that they are going with the euphoria of the masses to introduce vegan alternatives when they name chicken is all there in the brand.
Chick-fil-A may be in the initial stages of trying vegan alternatives, but popular fast food chain restaurants have already offering vegan food. Burger King, for instance, has been offering Impossible Burger in St. Louis and already they are expanding to Columbus, Miami, Alabama, Georgia and Montgomery. IKEA is working on its plant-based meatballs while McDonald’s is already offering vegan burger abroad.
